Time on Target

1 min read

Trying to get my head around new goals for this year, and completing more art, learning more in a less scatter shot way, and being healthier with work life balance. Part of that is to post more here and other locations that I have let sort of drift off. Posting used to be a strong motivator for me, and I think I've lost that habit.

Thowing Horns

Heya gang

So Chuck (the writer of our comic Native Drums) wrote an RPG, and I did a bunch of artwork for it.

You play a demon band in Hell on tour.

Its an easy to play fun pen and paper RPG, and I had a blast working on it.

If you can support it, that would rock.

In any event, I hope you and your loved ones are doing well and are safe.

I have been doing cons for....eesh, many many years. 15 years in a serious, I want this to work, capacity.

I found that my free time orbited them, as tasks to do for the table.

While I really enjoyed that focus to some extent, this last San Diego (2019) I realized, it might be time to try something new.

I have never done the tabling at cons to make money. I say that. I mean that. and yet, every con I found the high of selling things, and the lows of cratering. I had to remind myself every show, that I was not there to make money, but to get creative energy, (as cheesy as that sounds, its true) and to have a deadline to motivate me.

So I bailed on San Diego 2020, which, you literally have to start planning to attend AT the previous San Diego if you really want to do it.

I thought I would do a few cons, as I wasnt ready to just not table at all this year. Fanime turned me down, as did C2E2, and Gencon. Intellectually, I know these are popular shows, and artist alley tables are tough to get. It is no reflection on my art skills. Intellectually.

But man, emotionally, did it sting.

With the Virus thing happening, it's probably a darn good year to not be hell bent on tabling, but wow. It still feels funky.

So I looked to a year of no cons, and have felt initially very free and relaxed.....and then un-tethered.

I've been told I'm a workaholic, but I think I'm pretty lazy, which was pointed out to me that most workaholics would say that....any ways

I just need to find the next focus, which I think will be a kickstarter for a new comic book soon.

and perhaps afterwards, who knows, maybe a con or two in 2021
