rough breakdowns. there is a smaller thumbnail stage, and then I usually do this stage on 8x11 paper and then print it to 11x17 board for another pass on the pencils.

edit: inked! woot!

"I usually do this stage on 8x11 paper and then print it to 11x17 board for another pass on the pencils."

With what? And do you print the image on the paper (or board) at, say, a lower density so you have a "ghost" image to ink over? This sounds like a great idea but can you run bristol board (assuming you ink on that) througfh a laser printer? Inkjet printer? Sorry for the inordinate curiosity!

Also, your work is great!

I have a Mustek large bed scanner, and a canon pro 9000 large format(13x19) inkjet printer. The printer has a mode for flat front feed printing which allows for a standard comic page to be printed on.

I print at 600 dpi, cmyk, with the myk channels cleared (leaving only the cyan) and then I set it so its just barely visible on the monitor (it prints darker) That way I can pencil and ink on top.

When I'm done I can scan the full size page back in.

On occasion I will scan the penciled page before I ink, that way if I mess up the inks I can just print the pencils in blue on a new sheet.

hope that helps...

I've gotten to the point where I can't draw normally anymore. I juggle too many disciplines. So I always have to start scribbly and small then scan and blow it up. I can rarely just draw large offhand.
